Arrangements for Richard Montague Randolph

Visitation is scheduled for Noon to 1 pm on Thursday, June 30 at Faith Chapel South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL 32505. 

Graveside services will be conducted by the military afterwards at 2 pm at Barrancos National Cemetery located at 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.

Dickey Randolph passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 23, 2011, leaving behind a devastated wife, children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly, along with the men he served with in Vietnam and scores of friends that he'd made during his 62 years.

Because he was 100% disabled from his service in Vietnam, he was unable to secure life insurance. While the military absorbs some of the costs of the funeral, there is a large gap for which there is no coverage.

Please donate to help assure this hero, father and friend, the burial he deserves. Any amount will be appreciated. Medals Awarded to Richard Montague Randolph

During his tour in Vietnam, Dickey was awarded numerous medals. He never talked about it, but his service to his country is something he wore proudly along with his love and respect for the men he served with.

He was awarded the following medals:

  Gallantry Cross with Gold Star

• Vietnam Service Medal
• National Defense Service Medal
• Valor Defense Medal - Awarded by the United States of America
• The Presidential Unit Citation (Army) awarded for extraordinary heroism

A highly decorated Vietnam Veteran

Richard Montague Randolph served in the U S Army from Oct. 1970 to Jan. 1972. His tour in Vietnam was with the101^st/2 Batallion/506^th Air Borne. 

Trained in Light Weapons Infantry he also completed advanced marksmanship training at Camp Evans, RVN in December 1970. Because he completed Sniper training he elected to stay in Vietnam an additional six months tour of duty. 

He earned the Bronze Star with V device with three of his squad in Operation Jefferson Glen, in an area called Elephant Valley. They knocked out a heavy machine gun bunker (51caliber). 

Among his other decorations are the Gallantry Cross with Palm Leaf, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal with V device, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Service Medal.  He also received a Presidential Unit Citation Dong Ap Bia..Aka Hamburger Hill.

Through out his retirement he worked with disabled veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan...soldiers who returned home with severe disabilities, Dickey befriended and counselled many.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
